Completed - 1988 to 1999
Welkom Industrial Controls haw completed projects since 1988. Never has a project not been completed from our
side. We are a commited team. The following is a list of high-lighted projects that we have done over the last 11 years.
Y2K plant upgrade comprising of the supply, installation and commissioning of eleven PLC’s. The The existing
panels were used. new PLC software was developed by Welkom Industrial Controls from the intake, mills, leach,
elution, carbon, down to the reside pumps. These systems were changed while the plant was in operation. The plant
electrical, instrumentation and operators have helped to accomplice this smooth changeover. The plant old Wonderware
Intouch system was re-developed to an improved system and an Industrial SQL Server and web custom web reporting
were added.
Beatrix Gold Mine Y2K Upgrade - July 1999
Welkom municipality upgraded old Motorola system to Wonderware Intouch SCADA. The original radio system was
still used to communicate to the various substations and water pump stations. The substation breaker and current
values were displayed. The remote open and close of breakers were possible with this system. Stop and start commands
to pumps could also be issued to the pump stations, to transfer water.
Welkom Municipality SCADA System - April 1995
Upgrade and expansion of peanut shelling plant. We supplied, installed and commissioned the plant using the
Allen-Bradley SLC 500 PLC’s with Wonderware InTouch SCADA and InControl Soft PLC.
Suid West Landbou (Makwassie) - November 1998
Upgrade comprised of the supply, installation and commissioning of a Telemecanique PLC for their
front-line milling machine. We designed, did the drawings and the panel building were done via Welkom Industrial
Controls. The PLC software was also done by us.
Transnet Bloemfontein - December 1998
Complete electrical and instrumentation revamp. We supplied, installed, engineered and commissioned the MCC
power distribution network, Allen-Bradley PLC’s, Wonderware InTouch SCADA and InControl.
Suid West Landbou (Christiana Silo’s) - February 1999
Supply and commissioning of Siemens PLC with Wonderware InTouch SCADA for upgrade of Hydrate, Bulk loading
and GL plants.
Idwala Lime (Northen Cape) - September 1999
Welkom Industrial controls had sub contracted on a 13.5MW backup generator to do the programming and
installation of cables and instrumentation on the generator.
